If I leave my house at 5 a.m., set the cruise at 79, and head west on the NYS thruway to the airport for a 6:40 flight to Montana, the drive is exactly 29 minutes.

And listening to the Dead on the way makes it go even faster.

And seat 37E has a limited view.

I bet after you landed in Montana you completely forgot about your obstructed view from 37E. But were happy to land that first trout of the trip. Or..
did Jerry and the rest of the Dead help you land those fish as well?

You are correct, Joe. It was out of mind immediately. As for trout…I’ll report back after I float on Monday. Thanks for the shout!

I’m sure your view in Montana will make up for your lack of on the plane! Have a good trip!

The NYS Thruway and the Grateful Dead, a perfect pairing. It’s a ritual of mine when I travel home to Cazenovia to pop in a show once I hit the thruway. Pembroke Pines, 5-22-77.

The album I was listening to was 30 Days of Dead – a compilation of live tracks from different shows. There’s a bunch from those thruway stretches around that time – Onandaga, Alfred State, Albany. I’ll look up that 77 show!
